The house looks out over the terracotta rooftops of the town that clings to the hillside, its cobbled streets tumbling down to the river valley with its fragrant orange groves and lazily winding river.

The townhouse, with its traditional exterior, hides an luxurious interior that blends traditional touches with unique finishes creating a wonderful oasis from which to explore the region. Drive east and you’re on the border with Spain within an hour, or head west to Sagres for the Western-most point of Europe, with its wild Atlantic coast famous for its surfing.

Laid out over two floors, the ground floor has an open plan living area with bi-fold doors opening up onto the terrace with views out over the town and perfect for summer dining. The polished concrete floors are offset with antique carpets, vibrant tiles and stylish furnishings, both inside and out.There is also a ground floor office area and shower room that could be used as a further bedroom.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms. At the front of the house is a tranquil white bedroom with ensuite shower room. The polished concrete floor is offset by high white-painted wooden beamed ceilings with wooden shutters to the window and the French door that opens up onto the Juliet balcony. The master bedroom, with separate rain shower room, has a large sunken bath beside the large picture window that opens up onto the upper terrace allowing the bath to be a cooling plunge pool in summer or a romantic heated tub for two in the winter months. The upper terrace, with outdoor shower, is a perfect suntrap with views over the valley and town.
